Sales Tax or Vat - How to get the tax exemption?

Modified on Thu, 2 Mar, 2023 at 4:35 AM

Sales Tax

If you or your organization are in a location that is subject to a Sales Tax your order will include the local sales tax by default, even if you have a Sales Tax exemption certificate.

If a U.S. customer is buying on behalf of an organization that is exempt from paying state and local sales taxes, you can prevent the sales tax from being collected by entering your tax exemption number during the checkout process.

Customers can also request a sales tax refund by visiting questionacharge.com, selecting “VAT/Sales Tax Question” from the category menu, and providing FastSpring with the following information: Order ID, Date of Purchase, Order Total, and a copy of your organization’s Tax Exempt Certificate. FastSpring will refund the sales tax back to the original payment account.

VAT

Customers that are exempt from paying VAT or GST can prevent tax from being collected on their order by providing their valid VAT ID or GST ID at the time of purchase. For those providing a valid ID, no tax will be collected, and the ID will be included on the invoice we provide upon purchase completion.

The application of Sales Tax / VAT is out of our control, though our payment processor Fastspring will refund this once the transaction is complete. You can submit a request for a VAT tax refund to FastSpring, our e-commerce partner.

Please visit the visit the FastSpring support site and fill out the form to submit a ticket. Your VAT number will be needed to process a refund of the tax charged.
